You’re exactly what the world needs right now

A sustainable business is one that invests in the future of our planet. But without customers, businesses can’t sustain themselves. People like you have the power to change the world. Your purchases and your voice can help make businesses operate more ethically and be more accountable.

But only if you have the right information.

And let’s be honest. It’s a minefield – navigating all those logos and claims. How do you know if companies are doing everything they say, when it comes to protecting our environment and climate?

The Climate Action Label makes it easy to spot those taking real, measurable actions to combat climate change – driving New Zealand’s journey to a low-carbon future.

What is the Climate Action Label?

The Climate Action Label makes it clear which brands are taking real action to measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprint. Our eagle-eyed carbon accountants independently confirm each organisations’ carbon measurement and carbon reduction claims. And because each label includes the year, you know those claims are up to date.

Avoiding greenwashing
red flag

If a claim seems too good to be true, it could be greenwashing. Look beyond vague or unsubstantiated marketing claims, for evidence, data, and third-party confirmation. This includes logos from independent experts – like the Climate Action Label – that confirm claims, and show it meets recognised environmental standards.

What the different Climate Action Labels mean

The Climate Action Label is a transparent method for businesses to communicate their footprint and emission reduction actions.

Progress

The most important step is the first one you take - deciding to take action. After that the Climate Action label helps business and consumers to progress by having a clear path for measuring emissions, creating a plan to reduce emissions, then taking action to reduce emissions.
